JACKI
VENEZIA, WITH THE HELP OF KAREN CADLE INTERNATIONAL
AND TANGIBLE
DREAMS ENTERTAINMENT,
IS HONORED TO
ANNOUNCE THE 2011 CELEBRITY AUTOGRAPH AUCTION

THE
'WILD ONES' NEED YOUR HELP
In a
time
when
national
charity
organizations
are
struggling
to
raise
funds
on a
large
scale
their
smaller
counterparts
find
that
it
is
even
harder.
The
Roar
Foundation,
created
in
1983
by
actress
Tippi
Hedren
(star
of
Alfred
Hitchcock’s
‘The
Birds’
‘Marnie’
and
a
multitude
of
other
starring
roles)
is a
non-profit
organization
that
has
one
sole
mission:
To
educate
the
public
about
exotic
animals
and
to
advocate
for
legislation
to
protect
them.
To
provide
sanctuary
for
exotic
animals
who
have
suffered
from
gross
mistreatment
and
neglect
so
they
can
regain
their
physical
and
mental
health
and
live
out
their
lives
in
dignity.
The
Roar
Foundation
achieves
this
at
the
Acton
California
Shambala
Preserve.
Shambala
came
into
being
after
Tippi
turned
the
set
of
the
1981
film
“Roar”
into
a
full
time
habitat.
It
is
operated
entirely
on
donations
from
Tippi
Hedren,
private
benefactors
and
the
public.
Because
the
spotlight
of
national
attention
falls
mainly
on
large
organizations,
Tippi
is
constantly
struggling
to
raise
$75,000
each
month
to
provide
health
care,
homes,
happiness
and
dignity
for
over
sixty
of
the
exotic
big
cats
Shambala
supports.
Most
were
rescued
from
deplorable
situations,
some
from
roadside
zoos,
illegal
exotic
animal
trading
raids
and
private
citizens
who
realized
a
large
exotic
cat
is
not
a
household
pet.
Shambala
is
now
the
home
of
the
late
Michael
Jackson’s
two tigers
‘Thriller’
and
‘Sabu’
reside
at
Shambala.
For
over
25
years,
Tippi,
in
addition
to
serving
as
President
of
The
Roar
Foundation
has
tirelessly
campaigned
to
pass
legislation
to
prevent
illicit
breeding
of
exotic
cats
as
pets.
The
“Captive
Wildlife
Safety
Act”,
which
Tippi
co-authored,
was
passed
by
the
Senate
and
the
House
and
signed
by
President
Bush
on
December
19,
2003.
Ms.
Hedren’s
next
bill
“The
Federal
Ban
on
Breeding
Exotic
Felines
for
Personal
Possession”
is
in
mark-up
in
Washington
D.C.
The
Roar
Foundation
is a
501(c)(3)
Non-Profit
Organization.
